Singapore Airlines, one of Asia’s leading carriers, has selected the Carmen Crew Rostering software from Jeppesen. The system will be used for the scheduling of Singapore Airlines’ more than 9,000 pilot and cabin crew members. The initial contract term is five years and includes an option to also schedule the crew members of subsidiary SilkAir.
Singapore Airlines has evolved into one of the most respected travel brands around the world, and has one of the world’s youngest fleets in the air, with a network spanning five continents. Singapore Airlines is the first to fly the A380 and currently the only airline in the world operating the aircraft. Singapore Airlines serves 102 destinations in 42 countries.
Carmen Crew Rostering integrates seamlessly with other Carmen products, sharing data, work time rules, and user interface. Carmen Crew Rostering also integrates various rostering concepts, spanning different ways of creating individual rosters to the management of lines of work (bidlines). This allows the airline to support several rostering models for different crew groups and provides one integrated platform for the evaluation and implementation of future concepts.
“Singapore Airlines has made a thorough evaluation and benchmark of the Carmen Crew Rostering product; its solution quality, flexibility and capabilities to encompass all requirements were the key decision variables. The process leading to selection of a vendor has been long and challenging, and we are honored to be awarded this contract by one of the most successful airlines in the world,” said Sören Bröndholt Jensen, Jeppesen senior sales executive. “This agreement is an important milestone for the Jeppesen office in Singapore and it is exciting to see our operation in the Asia-Pacific region continuing its rapid expansion.”
The developers of Jeppesen Carmen Crew Management Solutions work closely with their clients in the airline industry and as a result, continue expanding operations, developing more refined solutions and optimizing their processes even further. With agreements with most of the world’s largest airlines, Carmen software is currently used to plan over 25 percent of the world’s airline crews in more than 40 airlines.
