AIR TRAFFIC NAVIGATION SERVICES, SOUTH AFRICA PURCHASE TAAM SIMULATION SOFTWARE
Jeppesen has signed a contract with Air Traffic Navigation Services (ATNS) in South Africa.
JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA | 12 Oct 2007 | By Jeppesen
The TAAM software and services being delivered by Jeppesen will be used to set up a new fast-time simulation team to look at airspace and airport capacity issues stemming from increasing tourism in South Africa, and also the 2010 World Cup finals being hosted in several South African cities. Jeppesen will provide consultancy services and training to help the simulation team initially, along with standard product and project support.
Hennie Marais, senior manager ATM Planning, Research and Development for ATNS South Africa, said, “We chose Jeppesen for their proven ability to deliver best-in-class air traffic management solutions, as well as their expertise and experience in our knowledge domain. Jeppesen’s TAAM solution will extend our capabilities in investigating alternatives to the future requirements of our airspace and airports, and thus our ability to optimise the entire aviation operation in the region.”
Ian Simpson, sales executive for Jeppesen, said, “Jeppesen has worked closely with ATNS to ensure that they will be able to develop a world-class fast-time simulator capability using the TAAM software and their new team of people. With a dramatic rise in inward tourism and the 2010 World Cup, it is essential that ATNS will be able to understand where capacity issues may arise and what can be done to manage both long term traffic increases, as well as the short-term traffic surge for the World Cup.”
