Jeppesen and AOPA Partner on Flight Planner Project

Jeppesen and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) have teamed up once again to create the AOPA Internet Flight Planner (AIFP).

Jeppesen and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) have teamed up once again to create the AOPA Internet Flight Planner (AIFP), a true browser-based flight planning solution developed collaboratively by the two organizations with Jeppesen responsible for the flight planning engine and associated web services and AOPA responsible for developing the graphical user interface.

AIFP will replace Real Time Flight Planner (RTFP), a web enabled flight planning application introduced in 2003, once the new service has been rolled out to the entire membership. In addition to being a platform-independent service (accessible by both PC and Apple Macintosh users), AIFP provides enhanced functionality including the AOPA Online Airport Directory with airport and fuel price information, route manipulation tools for easier flight plan customization, pre-loaded aircraft performance data and functionality that downloads weather automatically when the “Plan This Route” button is clicked.

“In addition to its platform independence, perhaps the biggest benefit of the new planner is that it provides AOPA with the ability to be far more proactive in responding to enhancement suggestions from its members,” said Dan McGaw, Jeppesen business programs manager, Business & General Aviation.
