Jeppesen, a part of Boeing Digital Aviation, and Wideroe, a leading regional carrier of Scandinavia, recently signed a new five-year electronic flight bag (EFB) service agreement. Wideroe, a long-standing Jeppesen customer, will transition from traditional paper-based flight and operations materials, to integrate digital Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro solutions delivered through iPad and Aviobook EFB software.

Eliminating paper-based materials from airline operations will allow Wideroe to increase operational efficiency through reduced fuel burn from weight savings and will improve pilot situational awareness related to quick access of critical flight data on screen. Jeppesen provides Wideroe with tailored navigation data, an essential component of the carrier’s operation, which includes challenging terrain, short duration trips and variable weather conditions while flying in Norway.

“We have trusted Jeppesen data for many years in paper form and we now look forward to transitioning to fully digital solutions for our operations at Wideroe,” said Helge Anonsen, deputy director Flight Operations and EFB administrator. “Providing service to international and unique domestic destinations creates operational challenges that Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro tools will simplify, offering data-driven information in real time in the flight deck.

Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro helps operators reduce pilot workload by eliminating cumbersome paper-based flight information revisions and increases situational awareness in flight by providing all relevant flight information at the touch of finger on iPad. Aviobook EFB software allows for transition of Jeppesen flight data and information between all mobile and desktop airline systems. Flight information with FliteDeck Pro is displayed per the preference of the operator, allowing for organization of data that meets actual workflow requirements of pilots.

“Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro on iPad will provide Wideroe with all of the flight and operations information they are accustomed to in paper form, but they now can access in dynamic ways in digital form to increase efficiency,” said Tim Huegel, director, Jeppesen Aviation Portfolio Management. “Optimization of airline operations is critical in today’s commercial aviation business environment and we are pleased to provide these services for Wideroe, a customer with a long-standing, successful history with Jeppesen.”
