UK based Flybe Signs for Jeppesen Navigation and Digital Optimization Services

Carrier uses iPad-based Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro to Access Essential Flight Information

Jeppesen, a Boeing Company, recently signed a three-year renewal agreement with Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, to provide digital charting and electronic flight bag (EFB) services for the carrier. Flybe also will receive Fuel Dashboard services to optimize fleet-wide fuel consumption and Electronic Flight Folder tools to enhance day-of flight EFB operations. Jeppesen had previously helped Flybe gain paperless operating authorization from the UK Civil Aviation Authority, using Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro on iPad as their EFB platform.

“Flybe has had a longstanding successful relationship with Jeppesen around navigation products, having been a customer for flight planning and charting services,” said Paul Clarke, Flight Support manager, Flybe. “We have always received very good implementation and after sales product support from a wide range of Jeppesen staff, ranging from first line technical support to local UK-based service and account management. We also were happy to be involved in the Jeppesen chart improvement program and we are pleased that we are being asked for our opinion on product developments and enhancements.”

Flybe participated in a recent Jeppesen user-based process to enhance its SID/STAR arrival and departure charts, which will be introduced starting this Dec. Overall, the use of digital flight information allows Flybe to operate more efficiently by eliminating paper content on the ground and in the air, which improves fuel consumption. FliteDeck Pro also enhances situational awareness for Flybe, using real-time, data driven flight information. FliteDeck Pro also significantly reduces flight preparation time and pilot workload.

“This new agreement with Flybe will allow us to help them continue their fleet-wide transition to a fully paperless operating environment,” said Norman Wagner, director, Jeppesen Strategic Sales & Service – Europe. “Use of Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro as their EFB solution increases operational efficiency and reduces costs, while providing access to digital charts and operational notes with a tap of a finger.”
