Jeppesen, a unit of Boeing Flight Services, recently issued a version update of Jeppesen Mobile FliteDeck (1.0.4), which resolves previous anomalies experienced when using iPad operating system iOS 5. An update of iOS 5 (5.0.1) incorporates updates to the Jeppesen Mobile FliteDeck app to ensure Jeppesen data is secure, displayed properly and full app functionality is available.

Jeppesen’s mobile app solutions were never affected by separate memory management function data storage issues related to iPad iOS 5 and the removal of data to a cloud-based storage system. However, the latest iOS 5.0.1 version update works to further ensure Jeppesen Mobile FliteDeck and Jeppesen Mobile TC apps provide essential functionality and flight data display.

Specifically, Jeppesen Mobile FliteDeck issues resolved with the software and operating system updates include proper display of European VFR charts in terminal chart view mode. Previous enroute chart display search function, text field entry and terrain display issues also have been resolved.

“Updates to our mobile solutions and the iPad operating system have alleviated issues related to the functionality of Jeppesen Mobile FliteDeck to ensure the consistent delivery of flight information,” said Tim Huegel, director, Jeppesen Aviation Portfolio Management. “Our customers and pilots authorized to use the iPad in flight can be assured that the industry-leading Jeppesen data they rely on will be available at the time they need it when flying with Jeppesen Mobile FliteDeck and iPad.”

The iOS 5.0.1 update now allows developers to specify data that is to remain resident on the device and not cause compliance issues with Apple’s operational guidelines. The latest 1.0.4 version of Jeppesen Mobile FliteDeck also allows for NavData revisions to take effect without the need to restart iPad.

The new version of Jeppesen Mobile FliteDeck for consumer use is available for download at no additional charge for Jeppesen digital data subscribers through the App Store on iPad or at www.itunes.com/appstore/.
