Jeppesen, a part of Boeing Digital Aviation, recently agreed to a new five-year electronic flight bag (EFB) service contract with MNG Airlines, a leading operator based in Istanbul, Turkey. MNG Airlines will integrate Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro EFB services on iPad to eliminate paper-based flight information from their operations and increase overall operational efficiency.
Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro helps operators reduce pilot workload by eliminating paper-based flight information revisions and increases situational awareness in flight by providing all relevant flight information at the touch of finger on iPad. Flight information is displayed per the preference of the operator, allowing for organization of data that meets actual workflow requirements of pilots.
“Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro will provide the foundation for MNG Airlines to rid their operation of paper content and reduce fuel consumption through weight reduction,” said Tim Huegel, director, Jeppesen Aviation Portfolio Management. “From navigation data to supplemental operator procedures and information, Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro allows operators to increase overall operational efficiency through digital delivery of critical flight data.”
Digital Jeppesen flight data will be delivered to MNG Airlines iPads through the Web-based Jeppesen Distribution Manager (JDM Pro) system to ensure timely and accurate delivery of current navigational and operational information to the airline through a secure network. Additionally, all digital flight information is resident on the device, meaning in-flight connectivity is not needed to access data.
“Integrating Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro in our operations will help us transition to a fully digital, interactive iPad-based solution and will eliminate the need for paper charts and materials,” said Altug Argun, Flight Operations Control manager, MNG Airlines. “Increasing efficiency is a top priority in today’s highly competitive business environment and we look forward to using Jeppesen EFB solutions to further optimize our operations.”
Since 1996, MNG Airlines operates a freight aircraft fleet, including Airbus A300-600, A330 and Boeing 737-400 models. Along with recent expansion of its aircraft fleet, MNG Airlines has built a leading position in its region. Holding a significant portion of cargo capacity in Turkey, MNG Airlines continues to grow by providing cargo aircraft and capacity to its customers together with charter flights and scheduled flights.
